Reporting marks / Identifications : CV and CVC
The Central Vermont was originally created in 1843.
Its goal was to service a corridor in Vermont between Burlington to eventually Boston and the city of New York. Within' a few year, the province of Quebec was connected to the railroad.
In 1896, the Grand Trunk Railway bought Central Vermont. In 1923, The Grand trunk became part of the newly created Canadian National.
The fleet of trains cars own by CV (Grand Trunk) is about 80 units according to the "official Railway Equipment Register" and seems to be all box cars. Number CV50000 to CV50099 (many numbers within' this series seems to no longer exist.
There are a series of boxcar marked "Central Vermont with the mark "CVC" but according to the "Official Railways Equipment Register", they belong to CN directly. They are called CVC402500 to CVC402999 and they are less than 300 units, all box cars.
Today, the Central Vermont does not exist as a company anymore having being liquidated, yet, all of its assets belong to the Canadian National and is managed by them under the name "The Grand Trunk Corporation" created especially for the American railroad companies own by Canadian National

Aujourd'hui, le Central Vermont n'existe plus comme une entité, ayant été liquidé, par contre, toutes ses avoirs sont maintenant la propriété du Canadien National qui en fait la gestion en utilisant une compagnie créée spécialement pour la gestion de ses filiales Américaines sous le nom de ; "Grand Trunk Corporation".
